Holanďan Danny van Poppel (LottoNL Jumbo) zvítězil v úvodní etapě Kolem Valencie. Ve spurtu pelotonu v Peñiscole porazil Luku Mezgece (Mitchelton-Scott) a Jürgena Roelandtse (BMC). Van Poppel převzal i dres vedoucího závodníka.
Všichni tři čeští závodníci dojeli v čase vítěze. Michal Schlegel (CCC Sprandi Polkowice) dojel 83., Roman Kreuziger (Mitchelton-Scott) 86. a Daniel Turek (Israel Cycling Academy) 119.
